A 23-year banking veteran, Shaun most recently served as Southwest Florida's Area Executive for AmSouth Bank here in Sarasota. He oversaw 45 Banking Centers in Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte, Lee and Collier counties. Over two-thirds of Shaun's career was spent with SouthTrust Corporation. He held several senior leadership positions with SouthTrust including six years as Executive Vice President and Senior Lender for SouthTrust Bank's Central Florida Market overseeing all loan production, credit administration, compliance and CRA activities for this six county region. In February 1999, he relocated to Birmingham, Alabama as the Senior Officer managing Metropolitan Commercial Banking activities for all eight states operating under SouthTrust's General Bank. In late 2000, he relocated to Sarasota as the President and CEO of SouthTrust's Suncoast Market overseeing all commercial and consumer banking operations for 22 banking centers in Manatee, Sarasota and North Charlotte counties. In 2003, he relocated to Houston, Texas to manage the company's expansion efforts assimilating three recently acquired community banks with 22 banking centers increasing the total to 30 within 18 months. Shaun is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin system with a major in Finance and a minor in Accounting. He is also a graduate of Wisconsin School of Commercial Banking and The Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, North Carolina. He is active in the Sarasota community currently serving as a board member for Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, board member for the Van Wezel Performing Arts Foundation, board member for Doctor's Hospital and board member for the United Way of Sarasota County. Mr. Merriman has been a resident in this community for six years.

Joy has been a career banker for 30 years. Prior to joining the GatewayBank team, Joy worked at Wachovia National Bank as Senior Vice President in Risk Management for the Business Banking Group serving Manatee, Sarasota, Charlotte, Lee and Collier counties. She held the position of Vice President in Credit Administration in Tampa for First Union National Bank for numerous years, serving primarily Hillsborough and Pinellas counties. Joy's career began in 1979 in Sarasota working for Southeast Bank of Sarasota County as a secretary, rising through the years to positions including management training to Corporate Lending Officer to Senior Vice President in Loan Administration. She graduated from University of South Florida with a BS in Finance. She has served on various committees and as Treasurer for not-for-profit organizations including Tampa Bay Estuary Program and Gasparilla Distance Classic. She volunteers annually for the flu shot drive at the Sarasota Elks Lodge 1519.

Richard has 23 years of banking experience, including overall financial responsibility for several denovo banks. Most recently he was instrumental in opening a $55 million national bank in Lake Mary, Florida. Prior to that, he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of a $108 million denovo bank in Central Florida with four branches. Richard worked for Independent Bankers' Bank of Florida for almost 9 years, serving in the capacity of Controller, then Chief Financial Officer. IBB is a correspondent bank that administers over $1 billion. He was also an Examiner for the Florida Comptroller's Office (now known as the Office of Financial Regulation) for 10 years. Richard is a graduate of Crummer Graduate School of Business, Rollins College, in Winter Park, Florida, with a master's degree in Business Administration. He earned his undergraduate degree in Economics from University of Florida. He also attended LSU Graduate School of Banking in Louisiana, and Florida School of Banking at the University of Florida. Richard's interests include Florida Bankers' Association, Leadership Division, Financial Manager's Society and Institute of Management Accountants.
